Kicks off of the participatory process of SMART: first event in the Resia pilot site
The community of Resia is ready to relaunch a more accessible tourism for all and by all!
On September 4, 2020 at 6.30 p.m. at the Educational Centre "La Tana" in Lischiazze took place the event of presentation of the participatory workshop, organised by “La Piccionaia” and in collaboration with the Municipality of Resia, within the SMART project.
What is a participatory workshop?
It is a workshop where citizens and tour operators work together sharing experiences to create a Silent Play itinerary, an innovative device that allows to enhance the cultural and natural heritage of the territory.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Resia, Anna Micelli, opened the meeting together with Councilwoman, Verdiana Morandi, who briefly illustrated the main objectives of the SMART project, underlining the strongly inclusive character and the importance of citizens' participation in the project.
On this occasion, the online campaign "Participate!" was launched, active on the SMART project website and dedicated to the collection of content open to the community, such as texts, documents, audio, photos and videos that describe the culture, history and landscape of your territory.
Afterwards a simulation of a Silent Play was organised, a travelling conversation with departure and return from the Educational Centre "La Tana" in Lischiazze along the first part of the path leading to Fontanone Barman.
Along the way, the actor Carlo Presotto presented and explained the Silent Play device and the playwright Paola Rossi involved the participants on local cultural and environmental themes. At the end of the simulation, there was a brief discussion with the participants.
Der Meinungsaustausch brachte zwei besonders gute Ideen hervor, mit großen Auswirkungen für die Gemeinde! From the exchange of views, two particularly brilliant ideas emerged that have a great impact on the community! The first idea suggests to dedicate a space within the local workshop to the creation of name-signs that will be realised through dactylology (tracing the graphic succession of the letters that make up the word). The second one, instead, concerns the creation of a specific name-sign for the Municipality of Resia, which still lacks it. All the sign-names, which will be created, will become part of the official vocabulary of the LIS.
The event was attended by more than 25 people, citizens of all ages, including deaf participants, cultural tourism operators and representatives of local authorities interested in promoting accessibility.
The contribution of LIS interpreter Sara Facchinutti throughout the course of the event was relevant, allowing deaf people to actively participate in the meeting.
In particular, several stops were made during the travelling conversation to encourage sign language translation and to give space to participants to express their ideas, suggestions and wishes.
This meeting was an opportunity to promote the culture of accessibility and natural and cultural heritage as a common good, in line with the strategic objectives of the SMART project.
Thanks to the event the importance of sign language has been highlighted and an important step in this direction has been taken through the creation of new sign-names that will contribute to enrich the LIS vocabulary.
The direct involvement of the citizens of the deaf community of Friuli Region and the local community of Resia has allowed them to contribute to the tourist enhancement of the territory from an inclusive point of view and to have a direct and experiential knowledge of the state of the art of sign language.
All activities were carried out in accordance with the Anti-Covid safety regulations.
