Culture and inclusion, the themes for the launching event of the SMART project

On December 5th and 6th 2020, the Kick of Meeting of the SMART project took place in Valdagno.

During the first day, partners gathered to review project work packages presented by each responsible partner, and to discuss a general strategy for project implementation. Partners set the basis for a communication and dissemination strategy as well, and they defined financial rules and time schedule.

On the second day, the public conference “Culture, territory and inclusion: the role of small museums in local communities” took place in Palazzo Festari in Valdagno.

The Major of Valdagno Giancarlo Acerbi warmly welcomed and thanked the participants for joining the event, followed by Anna Tessaro – Municipality of Valdagno Vice Mayor and Councillor for the cultural activities and Afra Gecele - Director of the Marzotto-Luzzati School.

After the institutional opening , SMART Project Manager Andrea Rilievo – Municipality of Valdagno, introduced the project to the public, underlining its missions and its contribution to the promotion and valorisation of small museums in the Alpine area.

Some project partners, such as ALDA+ and La Piccionaia – Theatre Production Centre took an important part in the conference discussion. Specifically, Marco Boaria - ALDA+, presented European financial funding programs for supporting cultural and inclusive initiatives, as well as successful projects and best practices.

Gloria Marini – La Piccionaia, partner responsible for the participatory process involving the three project pilot sites, explained the Silent Play product, an innovative tool to provide tourists with new ways to discover the territory.

Finally, Roberto Sette – President of the Musei Altovicentino network, told about the experience of networks, its genesis, strategy and results achieved.

A world café activity has been organized and conducted by the project partner ALDA+, involving all

The activity has been structured in 4 themes, investigating the main values and concept of the SMART Project (accessibility, culture, community, innovation):

  • Culture as an inclusion tool: ideas and best practices
  • The small museum: a place to visit or to live
  • The role of new technologies in the accessibility sector
  • How to improve collaboration between museums and stakeholders?

To conclude the event, each working group presented the results emerged for the discussion during the world café.
