Votive picture

Votive pictures are a sign of gratitude and make up the majority of the deposited votive offerings in pilgrimage churches and chapels. The high period of votive pictures was from the 2nd half of the 18th century to the end of the 19th century.

In this picture from 1771, the vow (ex voto) comes from a young woman who falls from a cherry tree and escapes with a fright.
