Traditional costume jewellery

Festive jewellery is an essential part of the festive costume. A brooch for the scarf, the eight or twelve-strand silver clasp necklaces, earrings and a hairpin or hair clip. In addition to coloured glass stones, which indicate that the Pinzgau was not one of the rich areas of the country, the women of the Pinzgau region enjoyed wearing emeralds, rubies, Bohemian garnets and - inspired by hunting - ivory teeth of deer. This jewellery was made in the 19th century.
