Stirrup ring
When farmer Josef Hörl wanted to move fence posts in April 1980, he literally stumbled upon a treasure.
55 copper and bronze objects with a total weight of 12 kg were excavated - a sensational find! Among the objects was a stirrup ring with 4 crossbars made of bronze from around 900 BC. The hollow-cast bangle was named after its shape, a stirrup, and is a true work of art that was probably imported to Saalfelden from Switzerland.
