Bonfires

On the mountain peaks of Saalfelden, fires in honour of St. John are lit at the time of the saint's name day, which is the 24th of June. The burning of the bonfires on the peaks and ridges of the mountains around Saalfelden is always an impressive mountain-climbing feat. The most difficult places to make fires in the Steinernes Meer are the two gaps in the west wall of the Sommerstein mountain.
