2. Opener for wool - Wolf

The machine's function is to give an initial opening to the wool flakes and free them from impurities. The coarse woollen flakes, in the form of a mattress, are slowly fed, by means of a grid and a pair of steel cylinders, to a drum equipped with strong tips, which rotates with a very high peripheral speed.

The spikes take the flakes, which are held by the feeding cylinders, and open them, breaking them up into smaller flakes and releasing the coarser impurities, which, passing through a grid, collect under the machine. The flakes are expelled by centrifugal force.
