Dove of the Holy Spirit

In the Christian faith, the Dove of the Holy Spirit represents the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Hovering in the so-called holy corner or above the dining table, it brings blessings into the home. The Dove of the Holy Spirit is also commonly known as the Suppenbrunzer, which very loosely translated would mean the bird that "pees into the soup". When soup was served from a large pot in the middle of the table, steam from the soup would rise, gather at the Dove of the Holy Spirit and drip back into the pot.
