3. Carding sets
This group of machines performs a fundamental operation in the textile cycle: carding.
The entangled fibre flakes are gradually opened until the fibres are separated, spread out, parallelised (in part) and cleaned of impurities, by repeated mechanical actions between cylinders covered with tips (scardassi). The final product is a light layer of oriented fibres (50% parallel fibres), sufficiently compact, called fleece.
